For 18+ years PEAK ACTIVITIES LTD has been based at Rock Lea

in the centre of the unspoiled Peak District village of Hathersage

which is a great place to base our huge range of training and

team building events and our popular range of outdoor activities

for groups and for individuals... including our highly acclaimed

weekend events for individuals.

The village of Hathersage is small but lively. It enjoys many attractions rare for

a village so small in size, including a 33m x 10m heated open air swimming pool

( open April to Sept. ) right next door to Rock Lea, our outdoor centre. Usually the

pool is heated to c. 82 to 84 degrees F. ..almost as warm as bath water !

 

The surrounding Hope Valley is a box of delights for the outdoor enthusiast - and from

our base at Rock Lea we are just minutes from local crags, excellent cycle routes, the

deepest cave in England, riverside walks and so much more !

Hathersage is in the heart of the Peak District National Park ...but is so easy to reach

from all over the UK. Hathersage railway station is on the scenic Hope Valley line

which links Sheffield and Manchester and has regular and frequent train services.

In and around Hathersage there are lots of different kinds of places to stay

and numerous tourist gift shops, lots of coaching inns and small hotels, and

several excellent places to eat well including several low cost inns, cafes, &

restaurants.

 

Accommodation - places to stay, including hotels, farms, B&B's, hostels,

campsites & camping barns. Peak Activities Ltd's customers get lots of

help locating and booking local accommodation.

 

The Indian Balti restaurant "Sanghams" is particularly popular with groups

of people using our centre. The food there is great ! There are loads of other

great places to eat including the Plough Inn, the Millstone Inn, the Little John

and the Scotsman Pack. Lots of little cafes and restaurants add to the wide

choice of places to eat day and night in Hathersage all week long.

 

Our lively village also has amenities including a post office, chemist, banks,

grocery stores, butchers, garden centre, beer gardens, several restaurants.

We even have a cutlery shop attached to the world famous David Mellor

workshops on the outskirts of the village.

The surrounding scenic Hope Valley....

 

 

 

Much of the village's night life revolves round the many local inns, some of

which offer live music, dances, discos, quiz-nights, darts, pool, karaoke &

unusual sessions of bingo ! Most offer extremely good value bar meals - ideal

for outdoor appetites ! The village has tennis courts, a bowling green & dozens

of pleasant walks heading in all directions. A walk along the River Derwent will

help your meal go down !

For those with more exotic preferences the Sheffield's city centre is just a 10 mile taxi

ride, bus journey or train ride away. Sheffield offers late night shopping at Meadowhall,

a floodlit dry skiing slope, hundreds of bars, loads of cinemas, discos & manynight clubs.

There is also ice-skating, ten pin bowling & several indoor rock climbing venues for those

with excess energy to burn off ! ( After a busy day with our tutors you might only have e

nough energy left to go just across the road into the Little John or to one of the other

excellent inns in the village including the Millstone Inn, The Plough & The Scotsman's

Pack and The George ! ).

Yes !

 

Arguably some of the UK's best climbing and outdoor pursuits enthusiasts shops

are located here....we now have no less than three outdoor gear shops right in the

village centre ( Nevis Sports, CCC and Outside ) and there's another one ( Hitch n Hike)

just on the outskirts....so the village is a mecca for gear freaks with a yearning for buying

all the latest accessories and life's other non-essentials !

 

All the gear shops are open on Saturdays and Sundays. We offer all our clients discount

vouchers valid for some of the local shops, so you can save a fortune by spending all

your money there on that fleece, or the GPS or the sleeping bag you always promised

yourself !
