Last year we had quite a few people coming here on their own doing sponsored events for charity as part of our "open courses" too. Click here for a list of open events such as abseiling and rock climbing weekends for complete beginners - also suitable for people of all ages and fitnesses wanting to do something safe but challenging to support their chosen charity. Options for groups include charity abseils, charity caving sessions, themed challenge days, and more complex programmes. ...... Three very plucky women Debbie, Debbie and Helen raised money for the Alzheimer's Society during Alzheimers Awareness Week in July 2006 with a sponsored abseiling session with our qualified assistant James and Andy ( right ) from Rock Lea Centre. Alzheimers Awareness Week 2006 2-8 July in England and Wales aimed to reach out and make contact with all those thousands of carers and people with dementia who need our support and who are not in touch with the Alzheimer's Society. Click on the Alzheimer's Logo above to go to their website and learn more about their excellent work. NEW FOR THIS YEAR ... Some of the UK's ultimate scary sponsored challenges ! IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A FUND RAISER WITH A DIFFERENCE... Try abseiling into a deep black chasm whilst we film you using out professional filming equipment. Suitable for groups of 6 to 60 people. Everyone taking part gets a chance to buy a copy of the edited DVD we produce. Tuition fee for groups from as little as £69.00 per person plus VAT for bone fide charities. We regret we cannot afford to work for free for charities ( our staff and insurance companies still need paying and our vehicles still need fuel in them even when we're helping to support charities ). However, we can offer free consultancy time and reduced hourly rates for registered charities who are well organised and who are willing and able to book their events with us well in advance. His Grace the late Duke of Devonhire awarding prizes to one of the winning teams at Chatsworth House at the end of a two day inter-company, inter team challenge event organised and sponsored by Dr. Iain Jennings of Peak Activities Ltd and Alan Gruar MBE of Lucas Aerospace. This prestigious event raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and provided that charity's professional fund raising with unqiue access to key execs. and decision makers from the firms such as Bosch and Kleinwort Benson and Lucas. Increasingly, Peak Activities Ltd's staff are asked to provide technical help & our £5 million professional indemnity and liability insurance cover for folks who want to use our expertise and technical equipment to enable them to raise funds & generate PR for their charities. We can offer good deals for people who are serious about enlisting our professional services to help them raise funds for their good causes in a safe and very enjoyable way. Often we are requested to staff and manage safety and insure tailor made challenges and sponsored events requiring technical support and specialist insurance cover ...such as charity abseils and charity team challenges to support good causes and registered charities such as the BBC Children In Need appeal. For such good causes Peak Activities Ltd can offer insurance and staff to run your event at reduced rates. HEY ! GUESS WHAT I DID OVER THE WEEKEND ! Pudsey Bear is one of our sponsored abseil recipients ! Back in November 2004 we organised a sponsored abseil for a small group including a Peak Park Ranger and National Park staff based in nearby Bakewell. The proceeds were sent off to Pudsey Bear's popular BBC Children in Need Charity and a great morning of fun and frolics in the crisp fresh air & sunshine was enjoyed by all concerned. Other groups ( including Castle Estates illustrated above) have been here caving and climbing for charity fund raising purposes. Our base in the accessible Peak National Park has a long and successful track record in assisting charities to generate PR and funds. Examples of some productive and enjoyable and successful charity & publicity events include sponsored abseiling sessions, sponsored caving events, sponsored climbing days, and major inter-company and intra-company team challenges and problem -solving competitions. Some events we have helped to design and run over the past twenty years or so have involved over a hundred people at a time raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity each - whilst some more modest events - no less important in our opinion have just raised a few thousands in a single day involving just six to ten people. Charities we have supported in a big way in the past include the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, WWF, the British Diabetic Association, BBC Children in Need, the National Deaf Blind League, the Scout Association, & many others. Getting to the Peak District from all over the UK is really easy ! As a rule of thumb we try to help raise a minimum of at least five times than the actual costs of running the event for their supporters, so prospective fund raisers need to be thinking about raising at least four or five hundred pounds per person abseiling, caving, etc. with us. As a small family owned business sometimes struggling to pay our soaring insurance premiums we regret that Peak Activities Ltd is NOT in a position to offer our services free of charge - especially as insurance cover for such events is now so very expensive for us to put in place. However, we try to look favourably upon national charities and their supporters who ask us to help them and will always try to offer our best possible rates to groups officially supporting worthy causes. Our own pet charities are listed below and we are always delighted to help any groups of people wishing to raise money for one or more of those very good causes. Concessionary rates are usually made available to registered charities if booked well ahead of time and in accordance with our booking procedures. Our only proviso is that in exchange for substantial discounts we just ask that any such events should be planned and booked with us well in advance so we can fit them in around our other work commitments. We will also make a charge to cover some of the time involved if there is a substantial amount of work needed to plan and set up and manage large fund raising events. DO WE WORK WITH INDIVIDUAL FUND RAISERS ? Normally our services are cost effective for groups but may not be feasible & cost effective for individuals unless they are realistically looking at achieving a considerable amount of sponsorship... ....for example a target of over a thousand pounds for their charity at any one time. Usually we work with people employed by charities as fund raisers to plan events with them that their charity can open up to individuals & promote through the charity's own web site and PR mails shots etc. All events we run from Rock Lea meet our very high standards - and as well as considering the ways and means of making the best possible use of your time with us... such as providing press and publicity materials.... we will also be involved in making sure your event is safe and has a minimal impact on the local environment to make sure your charity's reputation and image is protected and enhanced. Sadly some outdoor challenges organised by other firms in the Peak Park have sometime caused problems to other users and land owners..and we are very keen that anything involving our brand name is respectable, very well organised and environmentally friendly ! In many cases, your event may be run on land which is owned by one of our company's stakeholders. If your event involves lots of people, there is a lot to be said in letting us handle all the arrangements such as catering and to avoid access problems. We can even arrange transoport here using coaches and accommodation for those staying locally overnight.
