Our "Friendly Face"
Walking Weekends

are social events for anyone aged from

16 to 65 who fancies joining a jolly group

of people for a weekend of walking in & around the Hope Valley
in the lovely,

easily accessible Peak District National Park.
These low cost weekends
enable people with limited confidence in their navigational skills
to explore some of the more remote parts of the Peak District
- such as the trackless & remote moorlands and

craggy "edges" of Kinder Scout and Bleaklow.
The Sunday walk will
usually be slightly tougher than the Saturday walk. All these
events start at 9-30 am on Saturdays and they end c. 3-00 pm
each day. The pace

will be easy and there will be ample opportunities for taking
photographs.
Rock Lea Centre can
provide waterpoofs and boots, for a modest additional fee.

Most participants will be bringing along their own boots or stout
walking shoes.

Rock Lea's  beginners caving weekend is an open 2-day event designed especially 
for any novice INDIVIDUAL, FRIENDS & COUPLES who care to book.  It runs once 
a month - usually on the second Saturday & Sunday of the month.  Anyone over 
18 yrs is most welcome to come along and join these friendly weekends.  
By special arrangement we will sometime allow 16 and 17 year old to come on 
these open events if accompanied by one or more of their parents.

Expect to become part of a fun-filled social underground weekend for absolute 
novices and beginners under the friendly aegis of our friendly, expert  team of 
tutors and qualified caving  instructors.

Come on your own or bring along one or more of your friends !
No special fitness or equipment or prior experience needed, but
because of the nature of caving you need to be reasonably mobile
and agile. We will provide the wellies, caving suits, miner's lamps, etc !

now for over 25 years. They're a great way to meet new friends, 
relax & get away from your routine and  visit some interesting 
places deep down below the Derbyshire countryside - and learn 
new skills in safety too !

Our beginners' caving & potholing weekends start on the 
second Saturday of every month through the year but we 
are always happy to set up additional dates or single days 
of tuition for private groups (e.g. Hen groups, church groups, 
fitness clubs, etc.) & days of guiding for individuals & those 
wanting excluive tuition.

We also offer more advanced trips for people wanting to
folow up their initial explorations with something a little
tougher in different cave systems.

Accommodation is not included in price of the events on
this page, but we will supply everyone who books with a 
comprehensive list of local camp sites, B&B's and hotels, 
inns and hostels.  In over 25 years we've never had any 
client booked onto an open event who hasn't been able to 
sort out suitable local accommodation through our office.

Our popular Breakaway Weekends in the Peak National Park start usually 
on the second Saturday of each month. These informal weekends are a 
great way to try out new activities, get some fresh air, relax and exercise 
and meet new friends.

This action filled weekend offers two full days of outdoor 
activities on offer. Programme includes four half-day fun 
sessions of beginners  Rock Climbing*,  Abseiling, Caving 
and Orienteering.  Over 18's only.
