friendly meeting point, informal home-from-home & UK operational base.
It is situated in the heart of the charming, unspoiled village of Hathersage
located in the very accessible Peak District National Park.

We bought this Victorian building in 1985 to replace our former base
at Edale and over the years we've welcomed thousands of visitors
here...all year round. Our Sports & Outdoors Activities Division still
trades as Rock Lea Activity Centre...or Rock Lea for short. Rock Lea
stands in a sunny but very private location in the very centre of the
village of Hathersage...just 350 metres from Hathersage railway station.
Climbing and sports shops, lots of great pubs inns and cafes and the
village's open air heated swimming pool are all just a couple minutes'
walk from our base in the centre of this charming and lively Peak
District village.

Hathersage swimming pool is adjacent to Rock Lea.

Getting to Rock Lea by public transport such as rail
or service bus is reaslly easy. Hathersage railway
station is only 350 metres away and the 272 bus
stops about 100 metres away.

Rock Lea is our "home from home" and is used
as our non-residential operational base in the
very centre of Hathersage in the Hope Valley.
This is where the White Peak's charming lime
-stone dales and green valleys meets the more
rugged Dark Peak with its high moors & beautiful
hills and gritstone crags or "Edges".
Rock Lea is where we often meet up with our
individual customers and some groups at the
start of their day and it's a good spot for having
a cup of tea and a chat before and after our
various activities in and around this charming
valley. Larger groups can choose to meet up
with our instructors elsewhere - such as at a
local conference centre or at a local hotels or

Rock Lea's very central location adjacent to
local crags, caves, bike trails and lots more
( e.g. open air swimming pool, shops, inns &
pubs and cafes ) makes it an ideal informal
meeting point for pre-course planning events
and as a rendezvous for the many different
sorts of development programmes training
and the huge range of outdoor pursuits activities
our expert staff can run for your group from here.

Peak Activities staff and our training consultants
often operate now from local hotels and various
conference centres with whom we have close
working relationships. We also now operate too
outside the Peak Park in places as diverse as
Switzerland and Austria's wonderful Tyrol.

From Rock Lea we can run a wide variety of events. These include open courses for the public such as introductions to rock climbing, multisports breaks, and beginners caving weekends. However, the bulk of our business involves designing and running private tailored training and development programmes for private parties from schools, businesses and utilities. We have an impressive list of blue chip clients and a national reputation as being a very reliable & safe place to use for key training projects involving the use of experiential learning processes.

Rock Lea offers a comprehensive range of training facilities and services and one of the broadest range of outdoor sports activities on offer anywhere in this area. Rock Lea is a friendly & informal base - but don't just take our word for it !
Endorsements from people who've enjoyed coming to Rock Lea.

For those groups who are not staying in local
inns or hotels, etc. Rock Lea is often a great
place for parking your cars, putting on your
welly boots, sizing up caving suits and anoraks
etc. before heading off into the hills or deep
underground - and its' a good place for getting
washed up and changed and fed afterwards !
Other groups ( especially large ones) can get
refreshed and changed at one of the many
other venues we use locally.

Rock Lea is overlooked by the imposing crags
of Stanage Edge (below) which is a famous
climbers and walkers paradise. For the past
eighteen years Rock Lea has been the family
home of Iain and Caroline Jennings and their
youngsters and friends who together run
Peak Activities Ltd. Rock Lea is one of the
places where some of our vehicles and
equipment and some of our personnel
are based in the Hope Valley.

We have other depots in Bamford and Edale,
and for groups wanting residentials we have
lots of places such as hostels, conference
centres and hotels where your programmes
can be based. In that case we'll be coming to
you each day and so you may not be visiting
Rock Lea at all.

The conference centre and the hostel shown

we use for adult groups. These are both just a few
minutes from Rock Lea. The Marriott Hotel (below)
in its secluded gardens is only a few minutes transfer
away in one of our minibuses or by coach is another
very popular and good value venue for our customers.
