Unlike many out-of-the-way outdoor pursuits and training centres which can take hours to reach, Peak Activities Ltd's base in the UK Rock Lea is situated right in the middle of the UK in the charming village of Hathersage which is quick & easy to reach by road, rail & air. The M1 motorway is just a few miles away and there's a inter-city main-line railway station ( Hathersage ) with a reliable service just 5 mins. (350 metres ) walk from our base in the village centre. There are fast links from nearby Sheffield and Manchester to all major UK cities..and now Sheffield trains run by East Midlands Railways pull into London St. Pancras International with high speed liks to the Channel Tunnel with Eurostar from the same station. Many of our international clients arrive here for their training courses with us after flying into nearby Manchester or East Midlands airports. Some people fly in here just for the weekend from places as far afield as Poland and Germany ! If you decide to use our products and services - or perhaps pay us a visit before deciding whether or not to use our services - you'll find we're easy to get to by road. Hathersage is located in the scenic Hope Valley which is part of the Peak District National Park. We are approximately 10 miles west of the city of Sheffield ( see map below ). Our charming unspoiled village straddles the junction of the A6187 ( formerly the A625) and the B6001 (running up the R. Derwent from Grindleford Village to the south)......and our popular operations base is just 50 metres south of the junction of the B6001 and the A6187 in the centre of the village of Hathersage. There are excellent fast dual carriageway road links across the moors from the M1 Motorway over to the East. Junction 29 on the M1 to London & the South is just 18 miles away... & there are fast links to the M6 & M60 in the West. Car & Coach Parking in Hathersage Village... Safe off street car parking in the village is generally at a premium. However, Rock Lea has a spacious private gated car park at the rear of our centre for staff and customers are free to use this car park whenever there's space available. Our car park has room for two large coaches or c. fifteen cars / minibuses and immediately adjacent to our own car park is the village's large public "Pay & Display" car park, offering lots more space for guests cars, and coaches, etc. when our private car park is full or in use by staff and other clients. All the accommodation options we recommend have ample car parking facilities. One of the inns we use for corporate events days has space for numerous coaches and up to 100 cars, so if you're bringing, say, a large party of 100 + people car parking or coach parking is not a problem if we agree with you to rendezvous there. The 272 Castleton - Sheffield service bus route runs right past our centre and this public bus stops just two minutes walk away - just by the village's Post Office. Our centre's minibuses will run you around during your stay with us, so a car is not usually required during your stay with us. Why not consider the Green Option and arrive by train ? Lots of our clients arrive by car but increasingly the train is being seen by some as the most environmentally friendly way to arrive fresh & relaxed for your course with us ! There are already lots of cars & vans polluting and crowding the Peak National Park's road, so we've planned most of our events so you won't need your cars whilst you're enjoying an event with us....so consider arriving by train and choose to either work or relax on the way here. Your carbon footprint will be lower than travelling by car too ! TRAVELLING TO OUR BASE BY RAIL FROM LONDON.... Sheffield offers frequent fast intercity trains and coach services linking to all parts of the UK rail & coach network. You can be there just over two hours after leaving London St. Pancras International on one of East MIdlands Railways fast & comfortable new Turbostar or High Speed Trains. If travelling by train from London, it will only take 2 to 3 hours to get here via London St Pancras or King Cross via Sheffield railway station. Manchester - Chinley - Edale - Hope - Bamford - Hathersage - Grindleford - Dore - Sheffield From Hathersage next stops along this line are Bamford (2 miles to the West ) & Grindleford ( 2 miles to the East). The lovely Hope Valley line runs E-W through the Peak National Park between the major cities of Sheffield (10 miles away ) and Manchester...each of which are hubs to the rest of the UK. Travelling here by train is a relaxing and environmentally friendly introduction to the splendid, varied scenery of the lovely Peak District National Park. Our centre's minibuses will run you around during your stay with us, so a car is not usually required during your stay with us. Why not consider the Green Option and arrive by train ? Lots of our clients arrive by car but increasingly the train is being seen by some as the most environmentally friendly way to arrive fresh & relaxed for your course with us ! There are already lots of cars & vans polluting and crowding the Peak National Park's road, so we've planned most of our events so you won't need your cars whilst you're enjoying an event with us....so consider arriving by train and choose to either work or relax on the way here. Your carbon footprint will be lower than travelling by car too ! TRAVELLING TO OUR BASE BY RAIL FROM LONDON.... Sheffield offers frequent fast intercity trains and coach services linking to all parts of the UK rail & coach network. You can be there just over two hours after leaving London St. Pancras International on one of East MIdlands Railways fast & comfortable new Turbostar or High Speed Trains. If travelling by train from London, it will only take 2 to 3 hours to get here via London St Pancras or King Cross via Sheffield railway station. Regular frequent fast and comfortable trains from London to Sheffield are now operated by East Midlands Railways ( part of Stagecoach Group ). Midland Mainline no longer ooperates these routes/ Rail travellers may find that rail fares are often much cheaper if booked well ahead in advance, and if booked as a group booking - so do check out the options using your internet browser ! Nowadays it's safer, faster and cheaper to fly into and around the UK than ever before. There are fast links by road and rail between our base in Hathersage and the nearby major international airports at Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds-Bradford & East Midlands (Derby) John Lennon Liverpool & Robin Hood Airport Doncaster - Finningley. Most of our international visitors attending Peak Activities Ltd's short training workshops fly via Manchester and hire cars there to drive over here. For larger parties we can easily arrange to collect groups of our customers on training courses from local airports and ferry terminals ...using our own minibuses and/or coaches from our tried and trusted local coach suppliers. For groups, coach transfers from local airports can easily be arranged. Sheffield's tiny little airport is now closed.

Whether travelling to Hathersage and the Peak park from Europe on foot or with your own vehicle - getting here using ferries across the North Sea into the docks at Hull ( 1 hr away by car ) is really easy and good value for money too ! There are excellent overnight European ferry services under an hour's drive away from Rock Lea. Above is P&O's "Pride of Rotterdam" which runs between Rotterdam and the nearby Port of Hull. Other ferry services from Hull include the excellent overnight ferry service from Hull to Zeebrugges ( Bruges ) in Belgum using the Pride of Bruges and Pride of York. We are just a short minibus, coach ride or train ride away from Hull.
