Maps & a street plan showing how very easy it is to

conveniently based at

- a charming Peak District village just 10 miles SW of the city of Sheffield.
Hathersageis just a 15 or 20 minutes drive from Sheffield.

Our base is just 4 mins. walk from Hathersage railway station which is a
stop on the scenic
Hope Valley Line running through the Peak District National Park
between Sheffield
and Manchester.

There are numerous public coach and car parks, B&B's, inns, hotels and a hostel
and several cafes and climbing shops plus an open air pool
immediately adjacent
to our popular base. Several campsites are within walking distance or a hop one or

By road, Junction 29 of the M1 motorway is just 18 miles ( 25 minutes ) drive away.
To the East Junction 34 on the M1 is only 12 miles away.
Hathersage village is approximately 10 miles to the west of Sheffield on the main
railway line between Sheffield and Manchester. The
A6187 and B6001 junction by
the George Hotel in the centre of the village is just 50 metres from our base.
There is no vehicular entrance on Station Road so it is best to approach Rock Lea's
main entrance via the village's PAY & DISPLAY car & coach park off Oddfellows Road
( as shown on the map above). Look for the signs for the swimming pool adjacent.

Our private car park and main entrance
is at the lower ( NW ) end of a large public
car park. As you approach the
centre of the village keep an eye open for the blue and
white "P" signs and for the
signs showing the way to the village swimming pool close
Hathersage's tiny Railway Station ( see map above ) is just a short
4 mins. walk
from our outdoor activities base Rock Lea and is close to
numerous local
accommodation options. We're on the scenic Hope Valley
main line running through the Peak National Park between Manchester
Sheffield. It is an unmanned rural station, so don't expect a taxi from there
unless it's been pre-booked. Frequent diesel railcar trains run along
Hope Valley to either Sheffield to the East or Manchester over in the West.
People camping at the campsites opposite the station at nearby Hope or the two camping
sites near the railways station at Edalecan travel here quickly and cheaply by train.
